The Next Big Thing

I was tagged by Elizabeth Noble.

What is the working title of your book?
A Knight to Remember

Where did the idea come from for the book?
From a couple of places. I was taking part in a Coffee Unicorns group chat and TJ Klune asked the question: if you could rewrite a fairy story as m/m, which would it be? St George and the dragon isn't exactly a fairy story but that was the one that immediately sprung to mind. This isn't exactly St George and the dragon either, although there's a dragon in it and Aric's sister is called Georgia.

What genre does your book fall under?
M/M romance, fantasy, action/drama.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie?
I had too much fun working this out...
Justin Hartley - for Aric. He has the right look and first came to my attention when he played Oliver Queen/Green Arrow in 'Smallville'. Niall Matter for Denys, although his eyes need to be green as that's an important plot point. I've been watching him in two shows: 'Eureka' and 'Primeval: New World'. Katie Cassidy would make a great Georgia. She needed to be casted as her role is quite an important one in the story. Katie Cassidy is currently playing Dinah Laurel Lance in 'Arrow'.

Not that there's a common thread in what I'm watching in the slightest of course, and it did strike me that I picked the guy who plays an archer to play the one character who isn't an archer. Oh well.

What is a one sentence synopsis of your book?
A prince who has been sent on a quest by a dragon to find a sword is helped by a village herbalist who claims he isn't a mage.

Will your book be self published or represented by an agency?
I will submitting the book to Dreamspinner Press, so keeping my fingers crossed they will want to publish it.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
Seven months.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre.
I haven't really read any books within the M/M genre that I would compare with this, although it doesn't mean they aren't out there, just that I haven't read them yet.

Who or What inspired you to write this book?
A picture called The Accolade by Edmund Blair Leighton.

What else about your book might interest the reader?
It's a different take on dragons and has a few twists in the tale I hope the reader won't see coming.

Tagging: Lou Sylvre, Rhys Ford, Rowena Sudbury, Shira Anthony, Ana Bosch. Grace Duncan, and Tinnean.
