Welcome Tempeste O'Riley

A big welcome to Tempeste O'Riley today. I've hosted Tempeste for each new release in her Desires Entwined series so I'm excited she's here again for her latest, Temptations of Desire

Good morning! Today I’m here at Drops of Ink and I couldn’t be more excited because today I get to share a little more about my newest release in the Desires Entwined series. Yep, that’s right. The next book in the Desires Entwined series is out and ready for your reading pleasure.

When Anne offered to host me today, she asked a great question about this story, so I thought I’d share my answer with you all as well. She asked where the inspiration came from for Temptations of Desire came from and well, that’s a little convoluted, yet not at the same time (clear as mud, huh, lol).

You see, Temptations of Desire was never part of my intended series, at least not as a full novel. I had toyed with the idea of writing Dal Sayer’s story as a novella or even a flash fiction short series on my blog, but as I thought about it more and more—while writing Desires’ Guardian—it because a need to write it out. You spend time with Dal in Desires’ Guardian (book 2, Rhys and Chase’s story), and of course, you met Dal in Designs of Desire (book 1), but it wasn’t until I got into Rhys’s story that I realized that Dal’s wasn’t your typical story.

In DG you meet Dal’s love interest at one point, and you found out that Dal’s bi as well, but did you know that Alex, Dal’s lover is also genderfluid? Yeah, neither did I until I started writing, lol. I was drawn to write the story both because I thought it should be told and because of a couple of author friends of mine that encouraged me to go outside the standard gay or bi male characters in m/m romance.

Now, I wasn’t certain I could do Alex justice, being genderfluid, but I couldn’t imagine not trying so I contacted others, did tons of research, and a lot of soul searching to divine Alex inside and out. What you find in the pages of ToD is my love story of a genderfluid person and a bi man, both of whom have been burned before due to who they are, yet still willing to hope for love and a future. Thankfully, they found one another, and the rest, as they say, is history...

Alexander James Noble is a gender fluid gay man who gave up on finding Mister Right a long time ago. He’s not asking for much, though. He just wants a guy who loves all of him and appreciates his feminine form too.

At the local LGBTQ center where Alex regularly volunteers, he meets Dal Sayer, an officer of the Milwaukee PD. Because he’s been rejected one too many times, Alex doesn’t trust the huge cop and the interest he shows in him, but once Dal sets his mind on something, he goes all out. Pushing aside his preconceived notions, Alex opens up just a little and soon caves.

From their first date—while dealing with his father’s failing health and his parents’ demands for him to settle down and have children—Dal never takes his eyes off his goal of making Alex his. But proving to Alex he isn’t like all the men who couldn’t see him for who he truly was and only wanted to hide him away is harder than he thought.
