Welcome Asta Idonea - Beastly Businessmen and Guitar Gods

A big welcome today to Asta Idonea as part of her blog tour with Eyes on Books for Beastly Businessmen and Guitar Gods.

I started writing MM in 2014; however, I came to it via an odd path. My first awareness of MM stories was the discovery of slash fan fiction in my late teens. I loved it, and wrote a few pieces myself for Van Helsing, Red Dwarf etc.

Time passed, and in 2011, I made my official debut as an author with some mainstream fantasy and paranormal stories, writing as Nicki J. Markus. It was shortly after this that I began freelance editing work and undertook a Diploma in Editing to add a suitable additional qualification to my name. In 2014, I started editing for LGBT publisher, Wayward Ink Publishing. It was while working on the MM manuscripts of others that I decided to try my own hand and submitted a short story, The Raider, for an anthology call. That was accepted, and things moved on from there.

I chose to use the pen name Asta Idonea for my MM writing. The name is of Norse origin, and I went for that because my first MM story had a Viking theme. I wanted to keep my MM and mainstream writing separate so as not to confuse readers, some of whom might not appreciate the more erotic nature of my MM tales.

Since that first piece, my MM stories have featured in several anthologies, and 2016 saw the release of my first longer MM works. In February, Wayward Ink Publishing released my fantasy novella, Hell to Pay, and now I am back with them again for Beastly Businessmen & Guitar Gods.

I love both my mainstream and MM writing, and it is wonderful to have two different avenues through which to share my characters and stories with readers. I hope you will enjoy this new collection of tales; I certainly had great fun bringing them to life.

Fairytales and Myths for the Modern Gay

Or turn a mean-spirited monster into a man?

Six fairytales and myths are given a contemporary MM twist in this collection of stories, proving that sometimes the mundane can be magical too.

Assignations and Ultimatums
James Eldridge Turner was a man who expounded the theory there was a viable solution to every problem. His son was gay: a problem. The solution? Why, to ensure Ross ended up with a man of his father’s choosing. One who would advance him, set him up in life. Had Ross needed a bride, his father would have found one with money and looks (in that order). Since a man was required, that man had to be wealthy and powerful. None but the best would do. Unfortunately, Ross and his father had wildly differing opinions on what qualities this man-shaped paragon should possess.

The last nine months had seen a seemingly endless array of men paraded before Ross. The ambushes could take place at any time, but his father’s favourite approach was to invite the men to dinner, seating them next to Ross and then engaging in polite conversation while one lecherous bastard after another attempted to grope Ross under the table. Ross had no idea where his father kept finding these candidates, but find them he did, and the men of his father’s choosing were invariably much older, potbellied, and interested in only one thing if their leers and wandering hands were any indication.

Ross was a handsome young man, all thick dark locks and high cheekbones, with long legs and a pert, beautifully rounded arse, and he was convinced these men went home to wank over fantasies of him on his knees with their cock down his throat, or bent over a desk as they pounded into him. The mere thought of it was enough to make him shudder.

So far he’d managed to deflect all these well-intentioned if woefully misguided set-ups, but as he dried his hands on the towel and stared at his reflection in the mirror, he wondered how much longer he could keep this up. Hunter was the one he wanted, the one with whom he planned to spend the rest of his life. And eventually he’d have no choice but to break the news to his father and weather the consequences.
