Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your writing?
Of course, I can. ;)
I'm a bit neurotic when it comes to my writing, but then aren't we all? I'm a parent, a writer, a member of clergy for my temple here in Wisconsin, a friend, an affirmed bibliophile…. And I see no reason to change. I'm also someone for whom writing down for long enough to write is very difficult because of my health, someone for whom forearm crutches and/or a wheelchair is a must for going/doing anything/anywhere.
When it comes to my writing, I try to bring a bit of reality even into my paranormal stories. Of course, until my most recent release, Whiskers of a Chance, I'd never published a paranormal story, lol. I tend to bring into my stories things that affect me, my life, those close to me, so that my stories are grounded in reality, no matter how insane things seem to be at times.
Can you tell us about your new release? What inspired you to write it?
Whiskers of a Chance released today, September 30th, of course (YAY!) and is my first paranormal. It's the story of a lynx shifter who doesn't believe he has a mate, that he will ever find someone to truly love him for him. Now with him being a male, gay lynx; the heir to the lynx tribe; having the manipulative, controlling, homophobic asshat of a father and alpha he does for a father. Well, until he stumbles upon this sweet, shy little human next door, that is.
As for inspiration… Well, that's complicated. It all started as a sex plot-bunny. Then moved on to be a short. Then turned into a novel written in tandem with an author friend of mine who was writing a shifter (wolves) story as well. I think we spent as much time arguing why our version of shifters was right as we did writing, lol. (Her's just came out this month too, btw).
How did you come up with the title?
Whiskers of a Chance was a joke placeholder as I could NOT for the life of me come up with a name. The problem was, when it came time to submit, I still couldn't figure out a name for my story. I had the name for the series (which is a pun… "Chain of Fate"), but not for the novel. I put it to my readers, giving them my early version of the blurb along with the teasers that they had read off and on and they voted on the title. And don't you know, THEY demanded it be called Whiskers of a Chance. Who was I to argue?
What other novels do you adore/ writers you follow?
Oh goodness… don't ask me anything hard! Um… I love so many authors and stories. Of my contemporaries? Mary Calmes, Andrew Grey, Amy Lane, Grace R. Duncan, Charlie Cochet (Love the THIRDS, OMG!!!)… Plus, of course, Poe, Seuss, Shakespeare….
Are you a panster or a plotter?
Panster all the way! Tried plotting… yeah, that went in the trash, never to be seen again (trust me, that's a very good thing!)
What are your writing and personal goals for 2015 and beyond?
Right now? This interview. ;) Actually, I'm working on a story about a baker with serious impulse control issues and a lawyer that's a touch on the shy side. After that, I hope to go back and finally finish Dreamers' Destiny. Then on to the next in the Caged Sanctuary world, the Desires Entwined series, and the Chain of Fate series. You never know, I might just slip something else in there too ;)
When is your next book coming out, and what’s it about?
After Whiskers of a Chance, is Desires' Pride and Signs of Desire. Signs of Desire is the next full novel in the Desires Entwined series and is Adrian and Simon's story. I love ASL, so this was a special story for me. Desires' Pride is a different kind of short. It connects Signs of Desire and Desires' Guardian, and happens at the PrideFest in Milwaukee, WI 2014. I can't wait to share both stories with you!
What are you working on at present? Would you like to share a snippet?
As I said above, I'm working on Knots of Delight. A snippet? Sure
“Honey, you get me in good with these people, and I’ll kiss you.”
Heat rushed across Stefan's usually pale face. “Thank,” he grumbled. “Now I have to go out there beet red.”
“Hey, it’s better than with a hard on, right?”
“Oh, God,” he groaned, glowering at her before he smoothed his face as best he could. He ran his hands down his shirt and apron to make sure he was as tidy as possible, then turned and headed out to meet his fate.
Stepping out front, Stefan found Marcus waiting along with a serious looking twenty-something woman and a handsome man probably in his fifties. He plastered on his best smile and fought to control his nerves as he walked over. “Hello again,” he said to Marcus, extending his hand.
The edge of Marcus’s lips kicked up on one side as he clasped Stefan’s hand. “Thank you for doing this so quickly. This is Debbie, my PA, and Randall Martinez, one of the partners. Are you ready for us?”
“Yes.” Stefan gestured with a hand to Sarah. “This is Sarah Davidson from the Nosh House and she’ll be your caterer for the food portion and I, of course, will provide the best bakery and dessert items your firm has ever had the pleasure of tasting.”
Randall Martinez chuckled, Marcus smiled a little more, but Debbie—no last name given—continued to just stare, making Stefan wonder if she was really a PA or a clone, but then shook off his fanciful thoughts and focused back on the taste presentation. Once everyone shook hands, Stefan led them all to a small table and motioned them to sit. “Sarah and I have prepared a sample of the different items you chose,” he explained, meeting Marcus’s eyes. “If you’ll give us a moment, we’ll begin bringing things out.”

Do you get emails asking why characters didn’t get together and whether you’re going to write more about them?
LOL, Yes! Why aren't they together. When will they get together? Why would I *fill in the blank*? I got it with Chase about Rhys after Designs of Desire came out a lot. Also, demands to see more / a full story on Dal and Alex after Desires' Guardian came out. The funny part with the second one was, Desires' Guardian and Temptations of Desire (Dal and Alex's story) were actually written at the same time and submitted less than 2 weeks apart. So I already knew when the story I was being ordered to write would come out. :D It doesn't always work that way as I can't usually write very fast or consistently thanks to my health. Chronic pain and chronic migraines make writing a *B* sadly.
Are there big events in your life that affect your writing?
Sadly, yes. In the negative. My health greatly impacts my writing as I can't write consistently. It's very difficult to write when pain gets in the way. I do my best and give you the stories as I can. Thank you all for being so patient with me and my slow self! Each and every reader is precious to me and I value every email, IM, FB chat, review, etc. that I receive. When I don't think I can write more, that's what keeps me going! Thank you!

Jason Grant runs his own IT business from home, owns his own home, and has the best friend he could imagine. What he doesn’t have, or believe he will ever have, is love. When Jason catches a glimpse of his new neighbor on moving day, his libido ignites and his fascination in piqued. He even manages to concoct an excuse to go over and meet the man who makes him hope and want for more than he has in years.
Keith Skyler is a shifter in a world where his kind is known to only a few, but they don’t often mix and they never mate. Keith has been hoping for a mate since before he can remember, but gay lynx don’t have true mates. As far as he knows, they don’t have mates at all. However, while moving his little family across Seattle—and away from their tribe—his reality tips and spins more than he thought possible.
When these two men meet over a dish of five-cheese broccoli-noodle casserole, sparks fly. Who knew a welcome to the neighborhood gift could give both of them their chance at love?
Keith’s body pressed against his back. Without thinking, he leaned back into the warmth and strength now surrounding him. He’d caught a whiff of the man’s earthy scent before, but now it seemed as though it poured off him, seeping into every nerve and thought Jason had.
“Why?” Jason breathed, unsure what to do next. He knew what he looked like, and at just a touch under six feet tall, with somewhat dirty blond hair cut in a conservative, business look, and lackluster hazel eyes, he couldn’t believe a man with Keith’s rugged, model-worthy looks could really want him.
“I think it was the serious look on your face as you watched us unload.” He felt a shrug against his back. “Or maybe the activity you got up to later was what caught my eye. But either way, I was hoping you’d come over soon.”
Keith traced his ear with the tip of his tongue, sending shivers through Jason’s suddenly superheated body. “A-act-tivity?” Jason asked. He hadn’t thought anyone could see him.
Keith pressed against him tight, letting Jason feel how hard he was—and how big. Damn! “Oh yeah. I dreamed about you, about taking you in this very kitchen.”
This couldn’t be happening. Keith wanted him too? “And what did you p-picture us doing?”
“I’d rather show you,” Keith whispered into his ear before sucking the lobe into his hot, wet mouth and biting gently.
Jason nearly came just from that little action. “Oh God.” He whimpered, pushing back and rubbing his butt against Keith’s rigid cock. “You—I— Oh, please,” he choked out. He never did things like this, but right then, all he could think about was how perfect Keith would feel deep inside him, filling him, taking him right there on the counter.
Keith spun him around to face him so fast Jason got dizzy. He looked up, confused, before Keith took his mouth in a rough, demanding kiss that stole his breath and what was left of his thoughts. His world condensed down to the sweet bite of teeth and the wet slide of Keith’s searching tongue as he mapped and ate at Jason’s mouth. He was vaguely aware of moans and pleading whimpers, but he couldn’t focus on anything but the man currently devouring his very soul.
Keith’s fingers dug into his hip, hard enough he knew he’d have bruises later—a thought that brought more heat to his passion and joy to his battered heart. He snaked his other hand up to Jason’s head, his fingers threading through Jason’s short hair, and tugged enough to drive his want and need higher. Keith used his grip on Jason’s hair to tilt his head to the side and back, eliciting more breathy sounds from Jason. Keith kissed down his neck, nipping as he went. He rubbed his cheek against Jason’s and demanded roughly, “Tell me I can have you. Right here. Right now.”
Before he could make his mouth work, Keith bit him, sinking his teeth into the flesh where his neck and shoulder met. Instead of saying yes, as he’d intended, Jason keened high and loud, the sound echoing through the kitchen. Keith swiped his tongue over the now-tender skin before kissing his way back up his neck. “I need to hear you say it. And as much as I love the sounds you’re making, you have to answer me. Now.”
The deep, rumbling words edged him closer to oblivion. God, but he loved a man who knew what he wanted during sex. “Y-yes,” he panted and rocked his trapped dick against Keith’s. “Please, yes.”
The possibility for any more words was cut off when Keith plunged his tongue back inside Jason’s mouth, grinding their cocks together as he thrust in a way Jason hoped Keith would soon be doing a bit lower.
